The Match
Chelsea’s tactical and personnel changes saw the team fight back to lift the trophy after going 1-0 down in the first half. Real Betis’ Abde Ezzalzouli put the ball at the back of the net after only nine minutes, following an assist by Isco.
Chelsea’s Reece James, who was subbed on in place of Malo Gusto saw him lead the charge in the second half, meanwhile Cole Palmer went on to produce a player-of-the-match performance.
The equaliser didn’t come until the 65th minute however, when Enzo Fernandez headed the ball into the opposing goal. Five minutes later, Palmer curled in another for Nicolas Jackson to finish. The next goal came from Jadon Sancho, followed by an injury-time finisher from Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea became the first club to win all three of Europe’s major continental trophies, as well as become the first foreign side to deny a Spanish team a European final since 2001.
