The second leg picked up right where the 3-3 draw in Barcelona left off. Inter raced into a 2-0 lead with a well-orchestrated team goal finished by Lautaro Martinez, before a VAR decision awarded them a penalty. Initially waved away, referee Szymon Marciniak overturned his call after reviewing footage and deemed Martinez had been fouled before Pau Cubarsi got a touch. Hakan Calhanoglu converted to give Inter what looked like a dominating lead as they went into half time.
Barcelona, however, came back fighting in the second half. Quick-fire goals from Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo stunned the crowds at San Siro, and in the 87th minute, Raphinha put the visitors ahead for the first time in the tie – only for Inter’s Acerbi to net an impactful equaliser, leading to extra time. Frattesi’s decisive strike ensured Inter had the final say in the electrifying contest, sending the Italian team into their second final in three seasons and sealing their place in Champions League history.

Featuring white stars alongside hexagonal panels with green and copper tones, the ball is designed to visually represent Munich’s rooftops, landmarks and the Bavarian Alps. Symbols of Bavaria are also featured throughout including the English Garden, Hops, the Palatine Lion, Edelweiss and the Waldlerhaus.
This ball is notable as it uses more bio-based materials than any previous UEFA Champions League match ball. Elements such as corn fibres, sugar cane, wood pulp, and rubber have been utilised to maximise sustainability and eco-consciousness, whilst maintaining the elite level performance expected by clubs and players competing in the Europe’s premier club competition.
